  10. This is a sort of mini FAQ for FastLog/IEMSI.
  11.  
  12. The following Questions have been asked by people and hopefully we can give
  13. answers here.
  14.

  17.  
  18. 1)  I don't want to allow my Users to skip past the intro screens to my BBS
  19.     but FastLog/IEMSI seems to provide this option.
  20.  
  21.     FastLog/IEMSI can be setup to allow these shortcuts, but they are NOT
  22.     essential to the use of FastLog/IEMSI.
  23.  
  24. 2)  Can the IEMSI part of FastLog/IEMSI be used without the need for the
  25.     _LOGIN.PEX?
  26.  
  27.     One User of FastLog/IEMSI has reported that with versions of FastLog/IEMSI
  28.     upto 2.25, you could just use the IEMSI.PEX part of the package.  We
  29.     never got this to work here, and are still baffled as to why it works.
  30.  
  31.     In version 2.30 we re-wrote the IEMSI Handling routines to make it quicker
  32.     and also to make implementing IEMSI support into PEXs much easier.
  33.  
  34.     In version 3.00 we re-wrote the IEMSI Handling routines yet again to
  35.     enhance the performance even more.
  36.  
  37.     Both of these re-writes caused problems for this User who just used the
  38.     IEMSI.PEX, so we do recommend that you use the FULL FastLog/IEMSI
  39.     package as it was intended to be used.  
  40.     
  41. 3)  Do I need to the ASK PEX?
  42.  
  43.     No.  The ASK.PEX file is included as an optional extra.  ASK.PEX is IEMSI
  44.     aware which means you can support MAIL, FILE and NEWS IEMSI Requests.
  45.  
  46.     You can use ANY Mail/File/News Pexs you want, but they may not support
  47.     IEMSI.
  48.  
  49. 4)  Can you make just an IEMSI PEX instead of having to use the whole
  50.     FastLog/IEMSI package.
  51.  
  52.     FastLog/IEMSI can be used as just a basic IEMSI login PEX.  The features
  53.     that the _LOGIN.PEX support are all optional and do not need to be
  54.     installed, thus a seperate IEMSI only PEX is not needed.
  55.     
  56. 5)  Why cripple FastLog/IEMSI?
  57.  
  58.     We decided on a 5 second delay for IEMSI Logins and no IEMSI New User
  59.     Questions Support to maybe entice people to register.  Registrations have
  60.     been very good so far, and we decided that to increase the registrations
  61.     we had to remove the delays and limitations to FastLog/IEMSI.
  62.  
  63.     So now FastLog/IEMSI is totally functional to Unregistered Users.
  64.  
  65.     Since the removal of the cripples we have had several registration that
  66.     would not of been, if cripples had been implemented.
  67.  
  68. 6)  Is there any speed loss for NON-IEMSI Users?
  69.  
  70.     No.  FastLog/IEMSI seems to be the only ProBoard _LOGIN.PEX which operates
  71.     without a delay for NON-IEMSI Users.
  72.  
  73. 7)  Some of my Users seem to be demoted to Level 0 when logging in when using
  74.     FastLog IEMSI.
  75.  
  76.     FastLog/IEMSI does NOT set any User Security Levels, however the problem
  77.     seems to lie in the DownLoad Limits part of ProCfg.
  78.  
  79.     If you have set the Maximum Download to a particular amount and haven't
  80.     changed the Fall to Level option, then the User will be dropped to
  81.     Level 0 (default) and effectivly locked out when they reach the D/L limit.

  83. 8)  Some of my Users seem to be losing their Flags when using FastLog/IEMSI.
  84.  
  85.     FastLog/IEMSI only alters the Flags specified in the LOGIN.INI file for
  86.     the shortcut character.  No other Flags are altered by FastLog/IEMSI.
  87.  
  88.     We have extensivly tested the code and could not find any problems with
  89.     Flags.
  90.  
  91.     See the previous question for a possible solution.

  93. 9)  I think FastLog/IEMSI is very good, what new features are you going to
  94.     implement in future versions?
  95.  
  96.     We are constantly updating FastLog/IEMSI and are open to any suggestions
  97.     you may have for FastLog/IEMSI.
  98.  
  99.     We add new features as and when they are suggested or we come across
  100.     a good idea in another program :-)
  101.  
  102.    Two new features are planned for the next version of FastLog/IEMSI :
  103.  
  104.         Telephone Number formating
  105.         ProMail QWK PEX support for requests.

  107. 10) Why are you called Fe-line Software?
  108.  
  109.     We used to have a little cat called Cleo and she was the inspiration
  110.     behind the name.
  111.  
  112.     Feline is the species name for CAT.
  113.  
  114. 11) I heard you have a WWW and FTP site, can you tell me the addresses?
  115.  
  116.     We do have WWW and FTP sites now available with the latest versions of
  117.     all our Software as well as the ProBoard FAQ.

  122. 12) Why has AUTOPOST been added to FastLog/IEMSI?
  123.  
  124.       One User of FastLog/IEMSI asked if it was possible to implement an
  125.       automatic New User Welcome Message poster into the PEX as he already
  126.       used 2 Newuser.pexs and couldn't use our AUTOPOST pex.
